A Brief History of Granite

Granite is a natural stone that is made by slow-cooling lava above the earth’s surface. This cooling process creates the beautiful crystals which the stone is known for. Granite is one of the top stones to use in home remodels for its looks and durability. Granite is denser and less porous than other materials used which makes it a better choice for kitchens and bathrooms. Granite has approximately 15,000 different variations of colors and patterns which makes each slab unique. It is recommended to re-seal the stones every 6 months-12 months to give the stone a fresh look and for protection. Cleaning materials or foods that are high in acid can dull the stone which would require more frequent re-sealant.

A Brief History of Marble

Marble is a natural stone used famously by ancient civilizations to signify power and wealth. The classic white stone with colored veins adds a sleek and modern look to any home. Marble also comes in various colors and patterns. Although the stone is more expensive, it can be long-lasting with the proper care. Marble is more porous and requires more maintenance and care than other stones. It is recommended to re-seal the stone every 6 months-12 months to keep up with its elegant look. Because the stone is a soft stone, it is more prone to stains and scratches. The use of materials containing high acid should be minimal to avoid any imperfections.
